Commercial clarity

Advertising and Sponsorship Policy

How Jotuno labels commercial relationships and protects editorial decisions from advertiser control.

Editorial and commercial separation

Advertising supports publication but does not purchase independent editorial conclusions. Commercial partners may comment on factual information about their own organisation in contracted material, but they may not suppress accurate reporting or control unrelated coverage.

Clear labels

Paid or materially sponsored content should use an understandable label such as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored”, “Partner content” or “Featured listing”. The label should appear where readers encounter the material, not only in an inaccessible policy or footer.

Commercial formats

Jotuno may offer display advertising, newsletter sponsorship, sponsored explainers, partner campaigns, featured directory placement and homepage promotion. Availability, placement and duration depend on the agreed campaign. Payment does not turn a directory listing into an editorial endorsement.

Advertising we may refuse

We may reject promotions involving deception, malware, phishing, hate, exploitation, illegal products, counterfeit goods, unsafe health promises, guaranteed investment returns, academic cheating, fabricated testimonials or services designed to cause harm. We may also refuse campaigns incompatible with reader trust even when not expressly listed here.

Responsibility for claims

Advertisers must have a reasonable basis for objective claims and the rights to supplied text, logos and images. Jotuno may request substantiation, require changes or remove material when a claim appears misleading or a destination becomes unsafe.

Targeting and reader data

The current starter build does not enable behavioural advertising cookies by default. If targeted advertising or measurement tools are introduced, the Privacy and Cookie policies should be updated before activation and appropriate consent controls added where required.
